So recently I had the pleasure of doing something I hadn’t had a chance to do before.

My friend Al, who I had met through playing a computer game and hadn’t seen since he and his buddies flew out to Boston some time ago for a big party, asked me to play at his wedding at the end of June.

It was an incredible time. He and his fiancee flew me out to Michigan for the service, where I sat the piano for the duration of their ceremony and played a mixture of my own music, some David Lanz covers, and a few songs they wanted me to learn specifically for them (like the Glasglow Love Theme). They even requested one of my songs, Charisma, be their “recessional” song (which fit in nicely).

However, it was after the service, when both of them came up to me in the midst of all the craziness going on, and thanked me for coming to play for them, saying “this would not have been as special as it was without you here, we had to have you come play”.

That’s about as great a compliment I have ever gotten. To be a part of someone’s wedding is important in and of itself, but to see the sincerity in their eyes when they told me that, was an incredible feeling.

Thank you Emily and Al for giving me the chance to do this. I wish you both nothing but the best.

-Jon

Hey everyone.

It’s been a bit since anything’s gone on, so I figured I’d throw an update here and let everyone know what’s going on.

Basically- I’ve kind of been M.I.A. for a bit due to some unfortunate luck. I happened to total 2 cars over Nov and Dec. (one old, one a new one I got to replace the old one heh). I came out fine with no injuries from both, so I’m quite lucky. But, having no means of transportation severly cut into my ability to get out and play. With that and money issues being on my mind over the past 2-3 months, I sort of halted really getting out there to do anything.

However – that’s changing now

I’m undertaking a new project. Basically – as I’ve mentioned here and there, I’ve played a game called World of Warcraft over the past 3.5 years on and off. In that time I wrote some pretty goofy songs about the game and topics that revolve around it. Well people have heard them, like them, and time and again have requested I actually do a CD of all of this music. For over 3 years I’ve put it off. It’s time I cut the procrastination.

I have a good buddy who’s going to help me record stuff using his equipment…and if all goes well the end result will be a 10+ digital CD of these songs. In the meantime however – I will be getting some videos on YOUTUBE of both my newer originals (that aren’t recorded at all yet and have only been performed live) as well as some of these “WoW related” songs. Hopefully that’ll hold people over!

Also, I’m in the works of trying to get some regular piano lounge gigs in and around Boston. Background music in a bar type things. Hopefully those pan out and I’ll be out playing more regularly.

Oh – and I’m up to about 3 weeks having my lastest “new” car and no accidents…lets hope the streak continues

Take it easy everyone,

Jon

The Destare show went well.  A lot more people present than when I had played last there on a Sunday night. Hopefully I’ll get to do more mid-week shows there in the near future.

This past Thrusday, I was able to go into the 105.7 WROR studio with the other top 10 finalists for their “townie tune” competition and see how Loren and Wally run their morning show first hand.

It was an incredible time, getting to see these guys in action and having a chance to talk with them. I was able to bring my father, which was a pretty exciting thing itself since he was the one who got me listening to their show in the first place.Â

I didn’t win the $5,000 grand prize, a friend of mine from the Boston music scene actually did though! (Michael Maloney, great guy). However, the experience was more than worth the time put into it, and it actually gave me a bit of publicity (I was interviewed for the Billerica local newspaper the other day, keep and eye out for the story!)

Needless to say, a great time. I also wanted to thank everyone that voted for me and even went the extra length to have others vote for me as well. The support is more than appreciated.

Take care,

Jon

I recently entered a song competition to write what’s called a “Townie Tune” (a parody of the Boston area) for the Loren And Wally Morning Show. Turns out they liked it, played it on the air this morning, and placed it on their site (link above) for others to listen and vote for!

The compeition is for $5,000 so obviously I’m pretty excited.

Take a listen to the song it’s at the top currently titled “Want A Place To Park” — a parody of Just The Way You Are by Billy Joel.

I need the votes so if you like it, help me get into the finals this coming week!

Thanks all,

Jon

UPDATE: I MADE THE TOP TEN FINALISTS! There’s another round of voting and I will be on the air live Thursday morning 105.7 WROR around 7am!

The winner will be announced then! So visit http://www.WROR.com and vote for my song “Find a Place To Park” if you can!

Hey everyone,

Just making these 2 things known.

I’ve recently been offered to play at a Starbucks in Lexington on a farely regular basis.  I’ll be doing both guitar/piano vocal things, as well as full nights of just piano solos there. The only dowside is they don’t have their own PA system so I need to invest in one. If anyone hears about a great deal on PA or has a friend selling/giving one away, be sure to let me know!

Also, wanted to make it known that I’d love to form a band again. Playing with Edgewood Box a few years ago was an amazing experience and I was spoiled in getting the opportunity to share my music with such a talented group of guys. I would like to have the chance to do that again. Ideally, I’d like to get a 4 or 5 piece acoustic rock group together. The obvious Bass/Drums and my rhythm instrument…but in addition 1 or 2 “lead instruments” such as guitar, sax, etc. So, if you or anyone you know of would be interested and is in the Boston area, be sure to drop me a line.

Take care,

Jon
