Â
Well, the day finally came.
This past saturday, I had the piano I purchased about a month and a half ago moved to the new place. Â I had to postpone the move a few weeks so that some work around the house could be completed prior to its arrival…but it was well worth it.
The movers arrived in Canton at around 9:15 AM. Â The piano was disassembled, driven to Dorchester, craned to the 2nd floor, and reassembled by 10:45AM Â That’s pretty incredible if you ask me (efficient movers…I suggest anyone moving a piano around Boston contact “Deathwish Piano Movers”)
After they got it set up, I sat down and didn’t stop playing until well into the night. Â My roomate and I redid the entire room into a music haven…a drum set, amps, guitars on the wall soon. Â By far my favorite room in the house.Â
The piano is a Kawai RX-2, 5′10 Grand
Having something you dream about getting happen, at such an early age compared to most musicians I’ve spoken with, its incredible. Â I couldn’t have done it without the unwavering help and support of my parents. Â No number of “thank yous” can suffice. Â It took a few days to settle in. Â I walked in from work yesterday afternoon, having almost forgotten I had that thing sitting across the room…and I was floored.Â
If anyone ever wants to hear it, just give me a shout and I’ll give you a concert

I didn’t think this day would really come. Â Nevermind this soon.
It was something I always talked about. Â One of those things that would come up in conversation or in passing where my answer would be “Yeah, someday I’ll get one, when I have a home of my own or something.”
The timing seemed to good to be true. Â Sitting around a poker table with friends and my soon to be Roomates come the end of June, I look over to this large vacant “mini living room” and make a passing comment: “Wow, a piano would really go great there.” To my surprise I look up to see my friend Will (who owns the place I’m moving to) reply by saying “That’d be fine with me.” Â After long discussions and making sure with the guys that it would “OK to have such a beast in the house”, I actually started looking around for one.
So in my second day of really looking (having visited a few piano stores the day prior), I happen to search on Craigslist and within minutes, come across an amazing piano that seemed too good to be true. Â The same brand on which I was taught how to play the style of music I now write, a Kawai. Â Not only that, but for such a great price I was certain soemthing was wrong with it.
I couldn’t have been more incorrect. Â I contacted the owner’s, who invited me to their home the next day to try it out. Â After playing it I fell in love, and then today, after playing it again after it was just tuned, I could barely sign a purchase agreement fast enough.Â
For those curious, it is a 1996 K.Kawai RX-2 Â 5′10 Grand Piano.Â
I’ll cherish this thing for the rest of my life. Â For over 6 years now, I’ve relied on a digital piano. Â Anytime I’ve ever sat at an acoustic piano, something always felt “weird”…like I had to relearn the instrument since I was so used to plastic keys and a tiny little sustain pedal. Â But now, I’ll be able to experience what I’ve always wanted, an acoustic piano of my own that I can play whenever I want.
Now all I need to do is wait until the end of June when I move to my new place to have it with me!
A big thank you to my future roomates, to the owner’s who were so kind and genuinely wanted me to have it, and to my parents and brother who felt this is something I’ve deserved for a long time. Â I feel unbelivably lucky to be able to have such a “dream” actually come true sooner that I ever thought it would.

When traveling relatively far to a gig, do NOT forget to pack all your cords and hookups.
Got to Destare on wed. night and realized I had left my 1/4 inputs to my guitar back home. Had to run out fast and grab one before I could start (thankfully, there was a music store open until 8pm)
The Destare show went well.  A lot more people present than when I had played last there on a Sunday night. Hopefully I’ll get to do more mid-week shows there in the near future.

Playing at Destare, an amazing martini bar in Fitchburg, from 8:00-10:00 pm on Wednesday May 7th.
I’m not entirely sure if I will be doing all background instrumental piano music or throwing in a little guitar like I did last time. We’ll have to see what the night is like!
Hope you can make it out.
